Phytobiotics officialy launches Sangrovit WS in Asia

Phytobiotics is set to register Sangrovit WS – the water-soluble form of Sangrovit – in Asia, according to Dr. Hermann Roth, CEO and company owner.

Sangrovit is the top feed additive for improving performance and feed conversion in livestock and aqua species. It contributes to animal health and is beneficial in Salmonella  prevention, lawsonia-caused leitis in pigs, and strategies to avoid coccidiosis in finisher phases.

Sangrovit WS is the innovative water-soluble sister product to the regular feed formulation version Sangrovit  It allows for flexible administration in time and dos-age level, which makes it convenient and effective in combating challenges such as necrotic enteritis and Salmonellosis. It is convenient for short-term use and administration at all kinds of integrated farms or family businesses where water lines may be the first choice of application. Sangrovit WS is especially useful in emergencies or as an immediate application in case the feed line is already loaded with routine diets.

Recent field trials have found that Sangrovit WS is a strong tool to fight digestive tract infections and inflammation in poultry, swine, and other species, and is similar in terms of efficacy and cost as coccidiostats. Sangrovit WS can also fight or prevent diseases in cases of microbial reinfection which are common during phase out periods of antimicrobials and coccidiostats.

Sangrovit’s active ingredients belong to a group of alkaloids (Quaternary Benzophenanthridine Alkaloid and Protopine Alkaloid) which have proven anti-inflammatory effects.  Many pathogens and other stress factors cause inflammation of the intestinal wall, which costs the host energy and nutrients and can cause tissue damage. Thus, a reduction in inflammation improves the animals’ performance and health status.

Further measurements have shown that Sangrovit improves the bioavailability of amino acids such as tryptophan, lysine, and methionine, and supports cost savings in feed formulation. This, on the one hand, can be explained by better health status due to lower inflammation and therefore lower demand for protein.

Furthermore, Sangrovit is known to protect amino acids from degradation by intestinal bacteria and reduce the level of substances such as skatol and harmful biogenic amines. As a result, there are performance benefits in terms of growth, feed conversion, meat content, or laying ratio.

The use of Sangrovit WS is particularly effective in finisher diets – the most costly feeding phase. For production cycles in poultry and breeder flocks, Sangrovit WS showed repeatable success in the reduction of fatty liver syndrome.

While field results have confirmed Sagrovit’s efficacy, the company continues to work with universities worldwide in test applications of the Sangrovit product line with the aim of achieving health improvements in livestock. Broiler integrators in Brazil and Russia are applying Sangrovit on top of the finishing feed to prevent Salmonella  infection. A broiler integrator in Turkey uses

Sangrovit WS in finisher feed because its customers expect  Salmonella-free birds at slaughter.

“The results are stunning,” Dr. Roth said. “While the performance and cost of Sangrovit WS is comparable to standard antibiotics, it has allowed clients to maintain their export markets in Europe,

Arabia, Japan and Korea.”

Phytobiotics has begun comprehensive marketing coverage of Asia and expects its fortunes to rise as more countries ban antimicrobials in finisher diets. Already, the ban on such products in South Korea has boosted sales in that country. Sangrovit has a strong start in Vietnam and continues to do well in Japan. A senior specialist in swine has been hired to strengthen technical services in Asia.

Remarkable gains have been made in South America, especially Brazil, where year-on-year growth is expected to surpass 30%.

Dr. Roth is confident that 25% annual growth will be maintained owing to increased market penetration via the appointment of new distributors and sales teams. As a company based in Germany, the biggest feed and food market of Europe, Phytobiotics already generates more than 80% of its revenues with the Sangrovit line of products in major export  markets. Of that, 60% is generated by sales to overseas markets such as Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Japan, and Korea.

Sangrovit is available in its regular feed formulation as well as the water soluble form. Sangrovit RS is a special version for ruminants, and Sangrovit Extra is a more highly concentrated version.

Phytobiotics is also active in organic trace minerals such as glycine chelation of iron, zinc, manganese and copper (Glycinoplex), as well as animal flavors (Bigarol), sweeteners and attractants for aqua feed and pet food.

The company operates a plant in Germany, China, and a formulation and warehousing facility in Brazil.
